Role Purpose
The Women's Reserve Team Assistant Football Coach will support, develop, the women's reserve team, creating a positive, inclusive, and player-centred environment. The assistant coach will be sharing responsibility for planning and delivering training sessions, managing matchday activities, supporting player development, and helping create a pathway for players progressing into the first team.
The role is ideal for an enthusiastic coach who is passionate about women's football and committed to supporting players both on and off the pitch.
Key Responsibilities
- Coaching and Player Development
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective training sessions.
- Develop players' technical, tactical, physical, and psychological abilities.
- Monitor individual player progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Identify talented players capable of progressing to the first team.
- Promote enjoyment, participation, and continuous improvement.
- Team Management
- Select squads and manage the team on matchdays.
- Organise pre-match preparation, team talks, and post-match reviews.
- Maintain player availability records and communication.
- Foster a positive team culture built on respect, commitment, and teamwork.
- Support player welfare and wellbeing.
- Club Collaboration
- Work closely with the Women's First Team Manager and coaching staff to align playing philosophy and player pathways.
- Attend coaching meetings where required.
- Assist with recruitment and retention of players.
- Support club events, development initiatives, and community engagement activities.
- Safeguarding and Compliance
- Adhere to all club policies, safeguarding procedures, and codes of conduct.
- Ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.
- Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion throughout all coaching activities.
- Maintain any required coaching qualifications and certifications.
Person Specification
Essential
- Level 2 (UEFA C Licence)
- Passion for football and player development.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire players.
- Reliable, organised, and committed.
- Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities in sport.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
First Aid certification.
- FA Safeguarding Children qualification.
Desirable
- UEFA B Licence
- Previous coaching or playing experience in women's football.
- Experience working within a club environment.
- Skills and Attributes

- Strong organisational skills.
- Commitment to developing women's football.
- Ability to build strong relationships with players, parents, volunteers, and club officials.
