Job Title: Head Chef
Contract Type: Fixed -Term Contract for up to 6 Months, Covering Long -Term Leave Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Flexible Monday to S unday . To include working all home match days.
Location : Sheffield Wednesday Football Club S6 1SW .

PURPOSE OF ROLE
This is an exciting opportunity to join Sheffield Wednesday Football Club as Head Chef and become part of a passionate team at one of England's most historic football clubs. You will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering exceptional food and hospit ality experiences, leading a talented catering team and contributing to the success of the Club's matchday, hospitality, and event operations.
This role requires attendance and availability to work all home matchdays and Club events as required, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION – TASK RELATED
Main Duties:

Lead and manage all catering operations across Sheffield Wednesday Football Club, ensuring the consistent delivery of high -quality food and service.
Plan, develop, and deliver innovative menus for players, staff, supporters, hospitality guests, conferences, and special events.
Prepare and deliver nutritionally balanced meals in collaboration with relevant Club departments to support player performance and wellbeing.
Oversee all matchday catering operations, ensuring an exceptional food and hospitality experience for supporters, hospitality guests, sponsors, and corporate clients.
Lead, motivate, train, and develop the kitchen team, fostering a positive, high -performance working environment.
Manage kitchen staffing levels and rota planning to meet the operational requirements of matchdays, events, and daily catering services.
Ensure all Health & Safety, Food Safety, Food Hygiene, and HACCP procedures are rigorously followed and consistently maintained.
Maintain full compliance with all allergen legislation, food safety regulations, and Club policies.
Manage food purchasing, stock control, stock rotation, and supplier relationships to ensure quality, value for money, and minimisation of waste.
Monitor and control catering budgets, labour costs, and food margins to achieve financial targets.
Ensure the highest standards of food presentation, quality, cleanliness, and customer service are maintained at all times.

Work closely with the Club's hospitality and events teams to deliver successful matchdays, conferences, banqueting functions, and other Club events.
Identify opportunities to enhance the Club's food offering and improve customer satisfaction and commercial performance.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen environment, ensuring all equipment is properly maintained and used safely.
Manage recruitment, induction, training, performance management, and development of kitchen staff.
Support the delivery of the Club's commercial, hospitality, and operational objectives through exceptional catering services.
Be available to work all home matchdays and Club events as required, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role as reasonably required by the Club.
Deliver tastings events to potential clients
Day to day delivery of internal meetings and events

Other Duties

Whilst relevant guidance will be available, a high level of initiative, decision -making and discretion will need to be demonstrated in the performance of duties.
To ensure all duties and services provided are in accordance with health and safety requirements in the workplace. To comply with individual responsibilities, in accordance with the role, for health and safety in the workplace.
Adhere to SWFC policies and procedures.
To professionally represent SWFC at all times.
To undertake any other reasonable duties appropriate to the grade that may be required from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS, TRAINING & REQUIRMENTS:
Essential:

NVQ Level 2 as a minimum
Intermediate IT Skills
Understanding of HACCP and Food Safety for large volume catering
Minimum 2 years previous experience as a Senior Chef

Desirable:

Food Hygiene level 3
Extensive knowledge of the F&B industry and industry trends & innovations

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

Previous experience within a large -scale catering operation
Evidence of strong people management skills and leadership qualities
Strong communication and written skills
Must have natural focus on attention to detail
Must be innovative and proactive
Possess great organisational skills
Be able to work well under pressure
Must be a team player with sound management skills
Managing variable staff, briefings, training and development of team and appraisals
